Chiang Mai

1st - 5th August 2007

Chiang Mai

We stayed at a wonderful little family run Thai style boutique hotel, called the Baan Orapin.

Fabulous place, wonderful people. It's on a street, just behind the river, along with lots of antique stores. Cross the river by foot bridge and it's just a 5 minute walk to the night markets and a few minutes to the flower markets and local food markets.

Market impressions

1st August: We took a private cooking class at A lot of Thai with Yui. It was loads of fun and Yui is an excellent teacher. The girls really learnt a lot and we can highly recommend this cooking school.
We made the following dishes:

Steamed fish with curry custard in banana leaf cup
( Haw – mok – pla)

Stir fried glass noodles with vegetables
( Pad – woon – sen )

Chicken in hot and sour soup with coconut milk
( Tom – ka – gai )

Stir fried noodles in Thai style
( Pad – Thai )

The results were delicious!
